We have kept poultry for fourteen years the first birds we purchased were in 1990 although these weren’t Brahmas or Cochins a year later we purchased our first birds which were a pair of Gold Brahmas and a trio of Buff Cochins since then we have kept all colours of the large birds and most of the bantam colours (in brahmas).
Since we have started we have bred and kept over 20 breeds of chicken and 10 breeds of ducks and geese. Our experiences of keeping all these birds has influenced why now we only have three breeds Brahmas, Cochins and Sultans. To succeed in Poultry its important to concentrate on less breeds other wise you will need to breed thousands of young birds each year!
Our first poultry show was 9 years ago in Hinckley, we exhibited 5 birds but since then we have taken 50 birds to one single show, but normally we take around 20-30 birds. Our larger birds have won us many prizes over the years. The pictures below show some of the birds we keep.
